Abstract
Introduction: This qualitative research, with an exploratory-descriptive approach, analyzes the impact of assistive communication on the humanization of the doctor-patient relationship in cases of silent diseases, with emphasis on the “Dr. António Agostinho Neto” Cuanza-Norte Provincial Hospital, in Angola. Objective: The main objective is to analyze the impact of assistive communication on the humanization of the doctor-patient relationship in cases of silent diseases. Methodology: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with doctors and patients suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases, such as arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Results and Discussion: The research revealed that the quality of communication significantly influences trust, acceptance of diagnosis, and therapeutic adherence. Active listening, empathy, and linguistic clarity were observed to strengthen the therapeutic bond, while barriers such as excessive technical language, limited consultation time, and low health literacy reduce the effectiveness of communication. Conclusion: It is concluded that assistive communication is an essential therapeutic tool for the humanization of care and the effectiveness of the Angolan health system, requiring public policies and medical training focused on communicative competencies and linguistic and cultural sensitivy.
