Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is 1.5-spaced; uses a 12-point Times New Roman font; uses italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document as appendices.

Author Guidelines

CERES - Health & Education Medical Journal accepts only original articles, review articles, case reports, and experience reports that have not been published in other journals. We accept articles presented at events, provided this information is made available by the authors.

Types of Manuscripts Accepted by CERES:

  • ORIGINAL ARTICLES: Research work with novel results that add value to the field of health sciences and have not been published as a full article. The structure of an original article should include: abstract, descriptors (keywords), introduction (including objectives), materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and references (maximum of 40). The articles should contain between 3,000 and 6,000 words, excluding references.

    • Abstract structure for original articles: Introduction; Objective; Methods; Results; Conclusion; Keywords.
  • REVIEW ARTICLES: Evaluation and critical reflection on specific and relevant topics in the field of health sciences, assertively addressing the knowledge already available in the scientific literature. The maximum length for a review article is 6,000 words. It is suggested that the number of references be between 40 and 100, providing a solid basis for the approach. The structure of a review article should include: abstract, descriptors (keywords), introduction (including objectives), materials and methods, results, discussion (including conclusion), and references (between 30 and 50).

    • Abstract structure for review articles: Introduction; Objective; Methods; Results; Conclusion; Keywords.
  • CASE REPORTS: Detailed description/presentation of cases involving patients or unique situations, covering rare or previously undocumented diseases, as well as innovative diagnostic and treatment methods. The text of a case report should address relevant aspects that allow comparison with existing literature. The structure of a case report article should include: abstract, introduction, case description and follow-up, discussion, and conclusion. The articles should contain a maximum of 1,500 words, excluding references. Up to 6 attachments, including tables, graphs, or figures, can be included. It is recommended that the number of references does not exceed 20.

    • Abstract structure for case reports: Introduction; Case Description; Follow-up and Results; Conclusion; Keywords.
  • EXPERIENCE REPORTS: Articles that present the description of an experience that can significantly contribute to their respective fields. These studies have a methodology for the actions carried out during the experience, as well as reflections and considerations on the experience. The structure of an experience report article should include: abstract, keywords (descriptors), introduction, experience report, reflection on the experience with discussion, conclusions or recommendations, and references. The maximum word limit for these articles is 4,000, excluding references. It is mandatory to cite a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 references.

    • Abstract structure for experience reports: Introduction; Objective; Experience Report; Reflection on the Experience; Conclusions or Recommendations; Keywords.

Manuscript templates are available to authors, serving as a basic structure for organizing their articles according to the guidelines established by the journal. With this tool, we aim to simplify the submission process and ensure that articles are properly formatted from the outset.

 

1. Publication Guidelines:

1.1 For submissions, it is mandatory to present the manuscript for evaluation following the Template (model) according to the chosen article style.

1.2 Manuscripts submitted for publication must be approved by members of the Internal and External Editorial Board of the Journal. The reviews will be forwarded to the author(s) for acknowledgment of their content and revision, if applicable. For more information, consult the "Peer Review Process."

1.3 The submission must be original and unpublished, and the author must declare that it is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, this must be justified in "Comments to the editor."

1.4 The font must be Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. The manuscript should have a maximum of 6 authors. If exceeded, please contact the editorial team.

1.5 The submission must include: title in Portuguese, title in English, title in Spanish, as well as abstract, keywords; abstract, keywords; resumen, palabras clave. A total of 4 to 6 keywords should be inserted, and these words should not be included in the title.

1.6 The body of the text should follow one of the three languages (Portuguese, Spanish, or English).

1.7 CITATIONS: For citations, follow the current Vancouver Style guidelines.

1.8 ABBREVIATIONS: Abbreviations must be spelled out when first mentioned in the article.

1.9 REFERENCES: References should be limited to works and authors cited in the text and presented in order of appearance in the text, according to the Vancouver Style guidelines, at the end of the manuscript. It is the responsibility of the author(s) to correctly and accurately cite the text and the corresponding information in the reference list at the end of the manuscript.

 

2. SUBMISSION REGISTRATION

2.1 The data of all authors (in the order they will be published) must be provided via the specific page of the CERES - Health & Education Medical Journal platform at the time of submission: name, surname, email, ORCID id, affiliation, and a short bio with brief professional information (maximum of 50 words).

2.2 Titles, abstracts, and keywords must be filled in Portuguese, English, and Spanish in the fields indicated during submission. Authors should also indicate the subjects and knowledge areas of the submitted manuscript.

2.3 The abstract (100 to 250 words) should highlight the objective, method, and conclusions of the work. The abstract text, written in a single paragraph, using the third-person verb, must be free of direct or indirect citations, symbols or contractions that are not in common use, and formulas and equations that are not absolutely necessary.

2.4 Keywords (up to six words) representing the content of the article (in the three languages already indicated).

2.5 Indication of the funding agency or sponsorship of the work, if applicable.

2.6 Titles and subtitles should contain a maximum of 20 words, including articles, prepositions, conjunctions, etc.; they should be concise, clearly indicated (in the three languages already indicated).

 

3. CONDITIONS FOR PUBLICATION

To have articles and case reports accepted for publication in CERES, authors must provide grammatical revision of the text and abstract (including foreign language versions) by a professional with experience in the field. The respective charges are the responsibility of the authors.

  •  Articles with plagiarism will be refused, and the author of the plagiarism will lose the right to publish in this magazine.
  •  The names and addresses informed in this journal will be used exclusively for the services provided by this publication and are not available for other purposes or to third parties.
  •  Once you submit the articles, the authors give the copyright of their articles to the CERES. If you regret the submission, the author has the right to ask the CERES not to publish his article. However, this request must occur within two months before the release of the number that the article will be published.
